Frequently asked questions
Direct primary care is unfamiliar to most people, and it is not the right fit for everyone. These are the answers we give most often, including the ones about what we do not do.
Direct Primary Care is a simple, transparent way to get exceptional healthcare. Instead of billing insurance, your doctor is paid directly through a monthly membership — no middlemen, no hidden costs, no endless paperwork.
By removing insurance administrators from the exam room, we can focus entirely on what matters: you.
Yes. Our practice focuses on maintaining your health and improving your quality of life through proactive, preventive care. We are here for both your reactive needs and your long-term wellness goals.
Our goal is to reduce your need for urgent care visits by responding quickly to your concerns, whether in person or by phone, text, email, or virtual visit when you are away from home. Many of our patients have told us that simply knowing care is a text away is its own kind of relief.
We believe in straightforward relationships and straightforward pricing. Our goal is to make healthcare costs clear, fair, and predictable for every patient.
We negotiate and find low-cost alternatives for imaging, medications, and labs. That lowers your expenses, supports local businesses, and helps you understand what healthcare actually costs.
Yes. Members get wholesale pricing on medications, labs, and imaging. We charge little to no additional cost for procedures such as sutures, skin biopsies, and toenail removals, among many others. Members also receive discounts on aesthetic and regenerative procedures.
Yes. Beginning in 2026, Health Savings Accounts can be used to pay for Direct Primary Care memberships, so you may use HSA funds to cover your Focus Health DPC membership.
Current rates are $200 per month for an individual, $350 for a couple, and $75 for each dependent.
We accept ACH transfers and credit cards, with merchant processing fees paid by the patient. HSA payments are also valid as of January 2026.
No. Focus Health DPC is a membership-based clinic and does not accept walk-in visits.
We understand that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule, let us know as soon as you can so that time can be offered to another patient.
There are no penalties for the occasional cancellation or no-show, though repeated missed appointments may prompt a conversation about scheduling that works better for everyone.
We ask for written notice thirty days in advance, which gives us time to support continuity of care and transfer records if you need them.
No. Focus Health DPC does not bill or contract with insurance companies.
We recommend keeping insurance for major events such as surgeries, hospitalizations, and specialist care. For day-to-day needs, your membership covers most services at transparent, predictable prices.
Direct primary care pairs well with a high-deductible plan carrying a lower premium. If you see a specialist regularly, or take specialty medication, make sure your plan covers it.
No. Washington State does not penalize you for being uninsured, so you do not legally need insurance to be a member here.
That said, a membership is not insurance. We cover your routine primary care — visits, labs, chronic disease management, and more — but not hospitalizations, surgeries, or specialist care. Many of our members carry a high-deductible or catastrophic plan alongside their membership: affordable, unlimited primary care from us, and financial protection from them.
Yes. Focus Health DPC provides the same level of care to uninsured patients as to everyone else.
No. We do not submit claims to insurance or provide receipts for membership reimbursement. We can provide a superbill for certain services, such as laboratory testing, which may be eligible for partial reimbursement or count toward your deductible depending on your plan.
All emergencies should be handled by calling 911 or going to the emergency room.
For urgent and non-urgent needs outside office hours, members are given several ways to reach our team.
Our doctors often visit patients while they are hospitalized — please call us if you would like that. We coordinate with the hospital team, share records, and follow up after discharge to smooth the transition home.
No. We do not write hospital orders or bill for inpatient services, but we stay involved through communication and follow-up care. We encourage you to choose whichever hospital you are most comfortable with.
Yes, and we would rather say so plainly. Focus Health DPC is a primary care clinic. We do not provide chronic pain management, pregnancy care, DOT physicals, or disability determinations.
Some conditions are better served by a specialist. When that is the case, we will help you find the right one and stay involved in the referral.
Chronic pain medications are heavily regulated, require substantial monitoring, and carry high risks of diversion and long-term harm. We keep none at the clinic.
We believe in providing care that is safe and sustainable, and for most patients these medications work against that over the long term.
No. We are not a fee-for-service or urgent care clinic. We work hard to meet our members’ needs as they arise, but we do not see non-members.
We believe in long-term primary care relationships. It is what we do best.
Still deciding
If you are not sure whether this is the right fit, book a discovery call and ask. We would rather talk it through than have you join and find out we are not what you needed.
